For the second time this season Timsbury and Keynsham second eleven served up a thrilling encounter in the Bristol and District League Division 1 and just like their first meeting it went to the very last ball of the match. Needing six to win the visitors, Keynsham, could manage just a single and Timsbury triumphed by four runs.
Having been put into bat the home side lost Greg Passingham early on. Then an excellent partnership of 96 between Kev Sibley and Josh Tucker set up Timsbury for a challenging total. When Tucker was dismissed for an impressive 36 vice-captain Lew Redwood continued the good work. He added 70 for the third wicket with Sibley before the latter missed out on a well deserved century falling eleven runs short on 89. Redwood maintained the positive approach and was 47 not out when the home side ended their 40 overs on 218-5.
Undeterred the visitors made a strong response thanks mainly to Fiebelkorn who made 71 and Johnson who was dismissed straight after reaching 50. Gary Pearcy took two early wickets but at 128-2 Keynsham were strongly placed.
Thereafter the game swung one way and then the other but not for the first time this season Timsbury’s catching came up trumps with Redwood and Pearcy each taking two fine catches. With two overs to go Timsbury looked in the driving seat but Curzon (27 not out) took 14 runs off the penultimate over and it needed a crucial last over from Passingham, who finished with 3-44, to see Timsbury home.
Timsbury second eleven were very much second best in their match away to Pak Bristolians second eleven in the Bristol and District League Division 6 losing by 150 runs. Having opted to bat first the home side rattled up 309-5 in their 40 overs.
Israfiel Farooq led the way with an outstanding knock of 141, Fayyaz Mannan made 60 while Waqas Younas was undefeated on 57. For the visitors Henry Webb took 3-48. Timsbury batted out their 40 overs but finished well short on 159-9 with Dan Hill top scoring with 56.
Timsbury’s third team put up a battling performance at home to Hampset third eleven before losing by six wickets in the Bristol and District League Division 9 East. Batting first Timsbury were dismissed for 132 with Paul Sage and Max Steeds both making 20. For the visitors there were two wickets each for Alfie Robinson (2-17), James Clark (2-21), Christopher Kindon (2-26) and Joe Tarling (2-36). The Hampset reply was dominated by Kindon who opened the batting and who finished undefeated on 58. Steeds backed up his batting with figures of 2-30 for the home side.
