The following are accounts of Timsbury Primary School in the period 1948-1958. They have been collated by Bob Holbrook. Bob grew up in one of the old cottages beside the St Mary’s Church, and then moved to the semi-bungalows at the top of Radford Hill where his father continued to live until 2001. He is a member of the Holbrook family who owned many shops in Timsbury during the 19th and 20th centuries. Bob said, ‘On May 6th 1954 I recall watching on TV news Roger Bannister break the four minute mile barrier. These reminiscences were being compiled on the day he died; March 3rd 2018’.
