Planning

Land Use Planning

Timsbury Parish Council is a statutory consultee empowered to only make comments on land use planning applications within or next to the Parish Boundary, and also on policies and issues that effect land use planning in the wider B&NES area.

The Parish Council’s decisions to comment are base upon a number of factors including compatibility with residential and commercial planning policies, and representations received from interested parties. Occasionally a site visit is held.

The Parish Council will generally only make comment on ‘material considerations’ relevant in planning law. These are: layout/density; privacy/daylight/overshadowing; access/traffic; impact on jobs/economy; impact on community life; design/appearance; noise/smell, and viability. Issues normally avoided are; history/character of applicant; impact on an individual; commercial competition; property value; restrictive covenants; ownership of land, or matters of decency or taste.

The Parish Council are not able to give advice on planning applications, but do welcome views from residents, businesses and groups in the village. You can do this by contacting us in writing by email to: timsbury.parish.clerk@gmail.com; by post to Timsbury Parish Council, c/o YMCA, North Road, Timsbury BA2  0JH  or by public submissions at the beginning of each monthly meeting shown here.

Planning Decisions

These are made by B&NES Council Officers or by its Development Management Committee based on B&NES Council’s Planning Policies developed by its separate Policy Team – see updates here.

Anyone can submit formal comments on applications directly to B&NES, and not to the Parish Council or this website.

To comment on a current planning application, please read ‘Have your say on planning applications‘. You will need to include your name and address and your comments can be viewed on the B&NES website as forming part of the available application documentation.
