Keeping the village Litter free
Les Robbins, who has picked up litter around the village for many years, is unwell and has been in hospital for several weeks. He is described as poorly but stabilised. Hopefully he will be allowed home soon. The recent increase in litter around the village is testament to the good work Les has been doing on our behalf. His efforts are, and will be, much missed. A dramatic opening four minutes when Chilcompton Sports scored twice paved the way for their ultimately comfortable 4-0 victory away to Timsbury Athletic in the Uhlsport Somerset County League Cup competition. Timsbury Cricket Club AGM 2022
Timsbury Cricket Club’s first eleven will be led by probably the youngest skipper in its 150-year history with the appointment of 25-year-old Jesse Bishop. He will be replacing Jon Strand who has led the club with distinction but who felt it was now the right time to step down. Avian Influenza confirmed at Chew Valley Lake
A case of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) from the H5N1 strain has been confirmed in four wild swans at Chew Valley Lake. The birds had been found by Bristol Water and were already dead. Humans and other animals can be infected with Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza through close contact with live infected birds. The Boundary Commission for England has published a new revised map of constituency proposals, which takes into account feedback sent in by the public on the initial proposals. Timsbury Athletic are through to the third round of the Somerset Senior Cup after a 4-1 home win against Highridge Utd . In the end it was a comfortable victory for the home side although the visitors from the Bristol and District League kept battling to the end. Timsbury Athletic suffered their first home defeat since their promotion to the Uhlsport Somerset County League Premier Division going down 3-2 against Middlezoy Rovers.
