Youth Cricket Presentation 2018

7th October 2018 by Timsbury Parish Council

The Youth section of Timsbury Cricket Club looked back on another enjoyable season when it held its annual Presentation night in the clubroom. The Club Chairman Austin Sage said how delighted he was to see so many people at the function and thanked the coaches, managers, parents and groundsmen for all their support throughout the year.

Ben Hosford reviewed the progress of the under 9s and under 11s. The under 9s competition in Bath began with a shortage of numbers but encouragingly ended with a slight surplus. Although not successful with the results he said  he had been encouraged by the improvement and spirit shown. The under 11’s had improved greatly as the season went on and picked up many of the skills being coached at training. Results were patchy but all enjoyed the eight-a-side format which is the main aim for this age group.

Chris Rawlings and Martin Bond-Kendall who had run the under 15s  thanked the parents especially those that helped scoring and umpiring. The Under 15’s had a strong squad of 16 players and competed well in all games but were unable to turn the effort into wins. The best result was against Lansdown only losing on the last ball. One encouraging feature was that the majority will be eligible for another year and the Under 13s who missed out this year would get more cricket next year. All enjoyed the season and Austin Sage and Phil Mortimer were thanked for the pitch preparation.
