A four-week introduction course in Tai Chi will begin at the YMCA in North Road on Tuesday, June 5th. Each session will run from 11.00am until 12.00noon and is free of charge.
The course, open to all residents of all ages, is provided by the Wellbeing College, funded by B&NES Clinical Commissioning Group, B&NES Council, and other partners. Its aim is to support, guide and encourage all people to live as well as possible, manage their own physical and mental health, and to prevent them from developing long term conditions in the future.
Benefits claimed for regularly practicing Tai Chi include better mood, lower levels of depression, stress, and anxiety, greater aerobic capacity and muscle strength, more energy and stamina, enhanced flexibility, balance, and agility, lower blood pressure and improved heart health, reduced inflammation and fewer falls.
