Saving Bus Services
A Timsbury Bus Working Party with currently 8 people is coordinating activities with bus users to ensure Timsbury has a bus service to Bath in the long term. It is supported by the Parish Council. Actions being arrange (at 18th February) are:
Continuing the 179 Service
The campaign to continue the 179 in some form, possibly involving the 172, continues with Working Party reps meeting with First Bus this week.
B&NES are planning to go out to tender in May to see if there is a bus company who will run the current 179 service with tweaks plus a better Saturday service from September. This is possible because B&NES is probably protecting its bus subsidy budget for a year, which is good news.
RESPOND to Bus Survey BY 10th MARCH.
B&NES is running a paper survey of users available on buses along the whole route to find out what people want.
And Timsbury has set up our own online survey which you can complete here. You can only do this once.
Planning an Alternative Service
In case the 179 is withdrawn by First Bus from September or later next year at some date, Timsbury is working with the other villages to set up our own community run service, with paid drivers like a normal public transport with through-ticketing.
This involves a lot of research and the timetable would aim to suit more people and include Saturday.
Meeting with other villages reps on Tuesday 26th Feb. at 7.30 Conygre Hall.
