From 18th March 2019 Nominations are open to stand as a Councillor for Timsbury Parish Council. The elections are organised by B&NES Council. The Nomination form closing date is 3rd April and has to be delivered by someone by hand.
There are 13 spaces on the Parish Council so if there are 14 or more nominations there will be an election on 2nd May, at the same time as the election of B&NES Councillors in the Conygre Hall. If there are 13 or less the nominees are automatically appointed unopposed. If there is a vacancy a Parish Councillor can also be Coopted at any other time.
In simple terms Candidates have to live in Timsbury and be on the Electoral Register, as do the Proposer and Seconder of your nomination – there are other types of eligibility. You do not need to belong to a political party.
