New Broadband Service

8th January 2019 by Timsbury Parish Council

Truespeed Communications Ltd, based at Newton St Loe and backed by Aviva, is planning to bring high speed internet to Timsbury. The company has already provided a service to several villages in the area.

Using fibre optic cables direct to homes and businesses Truespeed promises a guaranteed transmission speed of 200Mb per second. This is sufficiently fast to successfully stream several films at the same time. If required faster packages will be available for business use.

The company will begin to recruit potential customers immediately and will go ahead with the installation when it has a reached an adequate number of requests (30% of households). When it goes ahead installation will make provision for every house in the village whether or not it is connected from the start.

Charge for the service on an 18-month contract is £47.50 each month for broadband and a telephone line. Standard installation cost is £125 for an overhead link from a Western Power or BT pole. The first 30% of households to sign up will receive installation free of charge.

A new telephone number will be assigned but an existing number can be retained for a one-off fee of £15. A range of calling plans will be available and Call Waiting; Caller ID and Voicemail will be charged at £1.25 a month (all three services will be charged at £3.00 a month).

Further details can be found at www.truespeed.com/about/our-story

The company will hold a presentation session at 7.00pm in the Conygre Hall on Monday, January 28th.
